  • Santa Fé is the capital of the province of the same name, in Argentina. With a population of 369,589 people, the city stands 19m above sea level. Located in the Centre-East of Argentina, the city of Santa Fé is bordered by the Salado River, the Setúbal Lake and also by canals that connect the city to the Port of Santa Fé. The province borders into the provinces of Corrientes and Entre Rios (to the East), Chaco and Santiago del Estero (to the North), Cordoba (to the West) and Buenos Aires (to the South).

    Santa Fé is famous as this was where the Argentinean Constitution was signed in 1853.

  • Santa Fé was founded on November 15 1573 by Juan Garay, together with a group of criollos coming from Asuncion, Paraguay. This location became a main access route by both river and land, between Paraguay and the River Plate. In 1651, the city was moved due to the erosion from the canyons of the region. In the 20th Century, 300 years after the change of the location, a commemorative Archaeological Museum was founded in the old location of the city.

  • Santa Fe is a province where football is a sport that paralyzes its inhabitants. Several teams represent the province in professional divisions. The most representative clubs are Club Atlético Colón, Club Atlético Newell´s  Old Boys,  Club Atlético Rosario Central and Club Atlético Unión.

    Currently, two clubs play in the first division, Club Atletico Colon Club and Newells Old Boys. Four institutions are playing in the second and three in the third division.

    The derbies among the province are between Colón and Unión and between Newell's and Rosario Central. Both games are events worthy of being seen by the color and passion of the fans in the stands.

    Club Atlético Newell's Old Boys is a team in which passed two great icons of world football: Diego Armando Maradona and Lionel Messi, both in youth system divisions.

    Club Atlético Rosario Central was champion of the Copa CONMEBOL in 1995.

  • San Martin Street


    This is the most traditional street in the city, and consists of seven blocks with good commercial options. There are more than 200 establishments including banks, gambling houses, pharmacies, bars, cafés, restaurants, clothes shops, perfume shops and the like. This is the heart of the city and also the main meeting point.

    1er de Mayo Municipal Theatre

    This is the most important theatre in the city of Santa Fé. The location came about as municipal initiative for the establishment of a suitable home for the theatrical tradition of the city. It has an architectural style reminiscent of the period of Louis XV.  It includes some pictures referring to dance and music, on its façade. Inside, the highlight is the canvas ring painted by Nazareno Orlandi. It has three rooms: one large room with 800 people; the Leopoldo Marechal room for 250 people, and a third room which is used for ballet rehearsals. There is also a museum inside the building, telling us about the history of the theatre.

    Zoo

    To the North of Santa Fé, there is a zoo with more than 100 species of animals native to the region, sixty types of birds, thirty mammals and about a dozen reptiles. The park is densely planted with trees, and many of the species are duly identified.

    Rosa Galisteo de Rodriguez Provincial Museum

    This museum was the brainchild of Dr Martin Rodriguez Galisteo, a politician and soldier from the Argentine cavalry. In 1918, he started building the museum that four years later would be sold to the State. It consists of a library and a museum with more than a thousand works of art in painting, drawings, engravings and sculptures, from Argentinean, North American and European artists. In the library, there is a vast collection of books on art and architecture. The museum has a total of 28 exhibition rooms, a large conference and concert room, an audiovisual room and also a teaching room.

    Las Flores Hippodrome

    First opened in 1918, the hippodrome at Santa Fé gradually gained a privileged place within the tourist map of the city. Within the programming for the location, there is the Carlos Pellegrini classic horse race, a competition between generations over 1 mile and 4 furlongs. This location is also home to an equestrian centre, which is always an attraction with animals hailing from Buenos Aires and other hippodromes in Argentina.

Climate and Temperature
This location has Mediterranean climate conditions, thanks to the influence of the Paraná River. Temperatures are high throughout the year and rain is constant. However, in winter the average temperature is 12°C, with a relative humidity of 65%. In the summer, the average temperature climbs to 27°C.
